Community Kitchen Operations Leader Application

As an Operations Leader (OL), you will join a cohesive team of students dedicated to community engagement and social, environmental, and economic justice. You will gain leadership experience by acting as a representative of CSB Community Kitchen on campus and in the community. Together with Community Kitchen staff, Operations Leaders manage our volunteer shifts, from preparing well-balanced meals to leading our volunteers through the meal delivery.* As Community Kitchen’s strongest link to our community partners, Operations Leaders are able to develop meaningful relationships with those we serve and serve alongside, while helping to ensure that volunteers have a positive experience and that the needs of community members are being met.

What OLs do:

•Prepare a meal by reheating rescued food in Gorecki kitchen.
•Gather food, utensils, and other necessities (stored in upper Gorecki) into food transport bags.
•Drive* meals and volunteers to host site (vehicle provided).
•Delegate tasks to volunteers and lead by example, especially in regards to food safety practices and engaging with our community members.
•Maintain a strong and professional relationship with community partners.

Time Commitment:

As an OL, you sign up for the shifts that work for your schedule. Although there is no strict requirement as to how many shifts you serve per semester, we ask that OLs commit to at least two shifts per month. We would love to have you for more, though!

Spring 2018 Meal Prep and Delivery Shifts:**

Monday: 4:15-5:15 PM, 5:15-7:00 PM
Every other Wednesday: 4:30-5:30 PM, 5:30-7:30 PM
Thursday: 4:00-5:00 PM, 5:00-7:00 PM

*You do not need a personal vehicle because campus vehicles are provided. Except under special circumstances, OLs who possess valid drivers licenses are required to take defensive driving training, because transportation is one of the most crucial responsibilities of Operations Leaders. Please contact [email protected] with any questions or concerns about this policy.

The CSB/SJU community is dedicated to removing barriers and creating a more accessible environment for individuals with disabilities.

Any student with a documented disability (or who suspects they may have a disability) is encouraged to contact our Disability Services Office (320.363.5160 or [email protected]) to discuss possible accommodations or environmental modifications.

Self-advocacy is an important tool for success for college students with disabilities. If you have already registered with the Disability Services Office, I welcome you to meet with me in the near future to discuss your accommodation plan. Be advised that while I am committed to providing accommodations, students are responsible for requesting support in a timely manner.
