New Key Request Form

CSB Residential Life & Housing is responsible for issuing room, apartment and campus house keys to students residing on campus. Only the CSB locksmith is authorized to duplicate CSB keys.

IF YOU LIVE IN COLLEGE AVENUE, PLEASE CONTACT THE CSB EVENTS OFFICE WHO MANAGES THOSE RENTALS AT [email protected], 320-363-5868. PLEASE DO NOT COMPLETE THIS FORM FOR THAT LOCATION.

1. Keys will be issued only to the student assigned to a room, apartment or house. Individuals are responsible for maintaining daily security of their individual keys.

2. Each member of your living group will be issued a new key. If you/your roommate(s) are not present when the locksmith comes to re-key your residence, keys will be brought to the Residential Life & Housing office for resident pick up Mon-Fri 8:30am-4:30pm. Bring your Student ID to show at time of key pick-up.

3. Once you notify Residential Life & Housing, your residence will be re-keyed within 24 hours. Please note: Residential Life office hours are Monday-Friday, 8.30am - 4.30pm. If you are submitting this request on a weekend, your residence will be re-keyed the next business day

If you believe your keys were stolen or have other reasons that you believe warrant immediate re-key of your space please contact Campus Security for assistance.

If you need to check out a temporary room, apartment or house key to access your residence until it is re-keyed, please contact CSB Security.

4. Charges for re-keying will be assessed to your student account. Your roommates will not be charged for re-keys, only the student who has requested a new key will be charged. Re‐keys are assessed at the rate of $40 for a room/apartment and $100 for campus houses. Re‐key charges are not refundable once the lock(s) have been re-keyed.

5. Residents must return room key at time of check‐out, failure to do so will result in the lock being re‐keyed. Students will be charged for re‐keys if keys are not returned at check‐out.

6. The College of Saint Benedict is committed to the safety and welfare of the people and property of the College. As stated in the CSB Housing Agreement, the Resident agrees to report lost keys within 24 hours of the loss. The timely reporting of lost/missing keys allows for contingency measures to be put in place until recovery of the key or the implementation of the process for re-key.
