Teacher Leaders of Color Application

The Teacher Leaders of Color program (TLOC) aims to reduce barriers and provide mentorship and professional development for Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) teacher candidates at CSB+SJU. TLOC participants engage in activities to foster belonging and professionalism among candidates of color in our department, including:
• Scholarships up to $3,711 per year (divided between fall and spring semesters),
• Membership in a cohort of future Teacher Leaders of Color on our campuses,
• Mentorship for exploring academic, professional, and personal goals,
• Opportunities for professional development,
• Increased connections with departmental, campus and community resources,
• Opportunities to give back to TLOC participants after graduation.

This state grant supported scholarship program is designed to increase the number of teachers of color in the State of Minnesota. Have you indicated on your application to CSB/SJU or your CSB/SJU enrollment information that you belong to any of the following groups? - Black/African-American, Asian, Hispanic/Latino, Native American/Alaskan Native, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander, Two or More Races.
Students who respond "No" to this question are not eligible to receive a CUGMEC scholarship.

The TLOC program is made possible through the support of the Collaborative Urban and Greater Minnesota Educators of Color (CUGMEC) Grant received by the Education Department starting in Fall 2023.
