PROJECT DETAILS

The goal of this study is to understand how having conversations about climate change affects people's attitudes and behaviors. The study consists of 4-5 brief (~10 minute) online surveys and 3 video-recorded conversations about climate change (1 hour-long conversation and 2 half hour-long follow-up conversations). Each conversation will be between you and your chosen conversational partner. The total expected time commitment per person is 3 hours.

ELIGIBILITY

You and your conversational partner must both live in the U.S. and be at least 13 years old (under 18 will require parental consent). You can choose a friend, family member, romantic partner, or anyone else you'd like to talk to as your conversational partner. However, your conversational partner must not currently be involved in climate action (although it's okay if they were in the past).

PAYMENT

You will each receive $90 for your participation in the study as a whole, in the form of a gift card or a donation to an organization of your choice. Payments will be made by the conclusion of the study (approximately 5 months from the date of the first conversation).

CONVERSATION #1
 
(1) Take a brief online survey
(2) Record yourselves having an hour-long climate conversation together over Zoom
(3) Take a survey about how the conversation went
 
CONVERSATION #2 (3 weeks later)
 
(4) Record yourselves having a half hour-long follow-up conversation together over Zoom
(5) Take a survey about how the conversation went
 
CONVERSATION #3 (3 weeks later)
 
(6) Record yourselves having another half hour-long follow-up conversation together over Zoom
(7) Take a survey about how the conversation went

FOLLOW-UP SURVEY (3 months later)
 
(8) Your partner will take a survey similar to the previous ones.
